Sorry for the long sabbatical especially since I just started this blog. Some events happened and I'm now just stabilizing myself in this new roller-coaster life.
Back to the issue of this entry:
Krispy Kreme will never be able to infiltrate the Philippine market. Not with Go Nuts Donuts doing a reverse engineering on the donut most brought home to Manila. The look, the packaging, the taste- it's Krispy Kreme. What's even better is that they've priced the local parity almost the same as the old, now commoditized DD and MD (exaggeration on commodity).
But you have to hand it to Krispy Kreme. They've managed to steal a position in the Philipines poised by Dunkin' Donuts, without even knowing it: Pasalubong ng Bayan.
Sadly, Go Nuts Donuts can be misconstrued to do what Filipinos had been famous for in the 80's - manggaya.
